My name is Martin L Walker III. I am putting together a new "Web 1.0" type of blog to share my thoughts about writing and technology.
My career is spent in computer code, right now the Swift language, along with Python and Bash scripts. Though over my long career I have touched many languages, from C++ to Perl to Java. I am an iOS developer now, with a great interest in artificial intelligence. I see both developments—the smart phone, and AI—as transformations. The world changed because of the computers people have in their pockets. It is changing again because of AI.
My career pays the bills, but it isn't the whole story. The true meaning of my life is my family, my faith, and my writing. My wife and children are what matter to me, and my faith in Jesus Christ.
While I have written stories since my teenage years, I published my first book, "Shadows of the Upper Peninsula", last year. Fiction is a window into the soul of the author, into his or her imagination.
What to expect from this blog? This blog will primarily be about technology and about writing. I may share stories about my travels, especially about the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, which is a magical place.
